People & Culture Business Partner

About the role

Wesley Mission Queensland, a large Queensland not-for-profit delivering aged care and community services, is looking for a People & Culture Business Partner in Brisbane. This permanent, full-time role has a strong employee relations focus, includes manager coaching and portfolio partnering, and suits someone who enjoys getting into the detail and turning advice into practical action.

Key responsibilities

• Guide leaders through performance, conduct, grievances, investigations and other people matters, from initial advice through to documentation, follow-up and risk escalation where needed.
• Work directly with managers to help them understand their options, make sound decisions and handle matters with greater confidence.
• Contribute to policy and process improvements, manager education, engagement survey action planning and succession planning as the partnering model develops.

Required profile

• Experienced HR practitioner with strong employee relations capability, possibly already a Business Partner or a capable Senior HR Adviser ready for broader portfolio responsibility.
• Able to manage ER matters confidently, applying relevant legislation, industrial instruments and policy frameworks, and preparing clear documentation.
• Clear communicator who coaches managers well and knows when to work independently, seek guidance or escalate risk.
• Warm, practical and steady under pressure, able to take ownership and build trust with leaders, colleagues and stakeholders.
• Experience in aged care, community services or another complex, regulated environment is valuable.
