Payroll Operations Specialist

About the role

Johnson Controls is seeking a Payroll Operations Specialist to join its ANZ Payroll team. Reporting to the Payroll Manager and supporting two Payroll Officers, the role plays a key part in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing across the group.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day payroll operational support so employees are paid accurately and on time.
• Maintain and update payroll process documentation, checklists and calendars.
• Ensure statutory and non-statutory payments are processed accurately and on schedule.
• Maintain data integrity in payroll systems and comply with country-specific requirements.
• Administer payroll processes, including data collection, calculation and entry.
• Prepare summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, insurance and non-taxable wages.
• Resolve payroll discrepancies and perform reconciliations.
• Support month-end and year-end payroll processes and ensure Single Touch Payroll / Pay Day Filing is submitted accurately and on time.
• Manage payroll and employee master file records and liaise with third-party vendors.
• Respond to employee payroll queries and assist with payroll system migration projects and ad-hoc tasks.
• Stay up to date on regulatory changes and best practices.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years' experience in payroll or HR operations.
• Strong knowledge of interpreting awards and enterprise agreements.
• Experience in unionised environments.
• Bachelor's degree in HR, finance, business or a related field.
• Right to work in Australia; pre-employment checks apply.

Required skills

• Payroll systems such as Chris21, Ramco, Workday or MS CRM Dynamics.
• Payroll certification preferred.
• High attention to detail, strong time management and excellent communication skills.
