Patient Services Assistant

About the role

Mercy Health is seeking a Patient Services Assistant for its Food & Environmental Department at Werribee Mercy Hospital, a public hospital in the western suburbs of Melbourne. The role is casual, with the ability to cover day, afternoon and night shifts on a Monday to Sunday roster, and supports the hospital's new Emergency Department expansion scheduled for 2026.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure Victorian Public Health cleaning standards are met.
• Ensure food safety standards are met.
• Deliver patient-centred care in a busy, fast-paced environment.

Required profile

• Health Services Assistant Certificate III, or equivalent, or working towards.
• Current Food Handling Certificate.
• Experience in a hospital, hotel or cleaning sector is desirable.
• Commitment to policies and procedures to keep patients, staff and the public safe and healthy.
• Ability to supervise and train staff to appropriate standards.
• Ability to understand patients' diet codes.
• Police record check and Working with Children Check, and proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccinations consistent with public health orders.
