Patient Accounts Officer - Part Time

About the role

Icon Group is hiring a Patient Accounts Officer for its South Brisbane head office, working part time (48-hour fortnight) in a back-of-house role within a team environment. The position suits people with medical administration, secretarial or reception experience who want to handle health fund billing and receipting payments for the group's medical centres.

Key responsibilities

• Process medical and hospital billing accurately and efficiently
• Liaise with site-based staff to coordinate submission of health fund claims
• Process receipting of payments
• Reconcile medical rejections and adjust claims for re-submission
• Process refunds where required
• Follow up unpaid claims with health funds

Required profile

• Experience submitting private hospital and/or health fund hospital claims in medical receptionist, secretary or accounts roles
• Medicare and health fund billing experience, including hospital and doctor claims, receipting and reconciliation
• Competency in related systems and processes
• Attention to detail, strong customer service commitment and excellent verbal and written communication
• Ability to quickly learn fee schedules, doctor and day hospital billing processes
• Team player with flexibility and willingness to support colleagues
