Palliative Care Volunteer Visitor - Upper North Shore Sydney

About the role

HammondCare is looking for a Palliative Care Volunteer Visitor to provide companionship and social support to adults receiving palliative care at home in the Upper North Shore Sydney area. Volunteers spend time with clients through conversation, shared interests and simply being present, helping to reduce social isolation and bring comfort, connection and joy to someone's day.

Key responsibilities

• Provide friendly companionship and social connection to clients at home
• Engage in meaningful conversation and share interests such as chatting over tea, reading, listening to music, board games, gardening, family history, sports or arts and crafts
• Offer a regular and reliable presence; visits are arranged according to your availability, location and shared interests with the client
• Volunteers provide companionship and social support only, and do not provide personal care, transport, clinical care or household tasks

Required profile

• Aged 18 years or older
• National Police Check required (arranged and paid for by HammondCare)
• Willingness to meet HammondCare's immunisation requirements
• Availability for weekday daytime hours, 1 to 2 hours per week or fortnight, between 10:00am and 4:00pm
