Optimisation Specialist - AROC Aggregates

About the role

The National Aggregates & Remote Optimisation Centre in Brisbane is looking for an Optimisation Specialist to join its rotating roster, which includes shift work. From a central location, you will help improve performance across connected quarry and recycling sites by remotely monitoring fixed and mobile plant, production plans and key assets, and giving live support to site teams. Occasional travel to connected sites is required.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor operations and give immediate support to site operators and supervisors.
• Review production data and KPIs to spot trends, problems and opportunities, share insights with subject matter experts and act on them.
• Support planning and scheduling with data-based recommendations for resources and shift plans, and help site teams use planning tools effectively.
• Oversee production across multiple locations, monitor equipment status, plant performance and alarms, and escalate complex issues while keeping operations stable.
• Work with site teams and AROC colleagues to take corrective action and reduce production loss, following established procedures.
• Capture and share best practices and lessons learned.

Required profile

• Good understanding of mining operations, load and haul, and mobile heavy equipment.
• Strong knowledge of fixed plant processes, applications and yield.
• Ability to turn operational data into practical actions, and experience in environments where safety, uptime and production targets matter.
• Experience working shift-based hours; a relevant science, engineering or technical qualification is preferred but practical industry experience is also considered.
• Strong communication, critical thinking, analysis and problem-solving skills, and confidence in troubleshooting and decision-making.
