Operations Manager - Bulk Fertiliser Depot

About the role

A long-established, family-owned agribusiness with an international presence in fertiliser production, trading and distribution is looking for an Operations Manager for its bulk fertiliser depot in Mackay, Queensland. The depot handles 30,000 to 40,000 tonnes annually and the role reports to the Regional Operations Manager. It is a hands-on position where the appointee takes full accountability for the site, covering safety, people and day-to-day operations.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate the safe and timely receival, storage and dispatch of bulk fertiliser products
• Lead workplace health and safety on site and maintain a strong safety culture
• Coach and develop the site team, including regular performance feedback
• Schedule plant and equipment maintenance to minimise downtime
• Manage site records, compliance and Chain of Responsibility obligations
• Work with sales, customer service, transport contractors and shipping to keep product moving and customers informed
• Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives
• Manage the P&L of the site

Required profile

• Supervisory or people leadership experience in bulk handling, logistics, warehousing, manufacturing or production
• Practical, hands-on approach and ability to do operational work alongside the team
• FEL and forklift licence (or willingness to obtain one) and a current driver's licence
• Trade qualification, relevant TAFE certificate or equivalent industry knowledge
• Availability to work outside normal hours during peak season
• Honest, approachable leadership style with a track record of following through on commitments

Required skills

• Confidence with Microsoft Office and business systems
• Willingness to operate a loader or forklift during peak periods

What we offer

• Salary of $110,000 to $120,000 per annum
