Online Teaching Casual (2027)

About the role

Adelaide University Online (AUO) is looking for casual academics to deliver 100% online degrees to adult students studying on demand. The university offers 10-week and 6-week programs delivered over four and six terms respectively, and is accepting expressions of interest for sessional teaching contracts in Business & Law, Creative Arts, Design and Humanities, Education, Behavioural and Social Sciences, Engineering and Information Technology, Health and Science. The role is fully remote and mostly outside standard office hours.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver online teaching as part of the AUO teaching team
• Use disciplinary expertise to consult, facilitate discussions, mark assessments and give feedback to students
• Maximise the student experience and learning outcomes
• Provide academic support, mentoring and advice to students
• Be the first point of contact for student issues or complaints

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree and relevant professional or industry experience (10-week courses)
• Masters or PhD (6-week courses)
• Ability to teach a diverse student group and work outside normal hours, including weekends
• Australian or New Zealand citizen, Australian permanent resident, or someone with the legal right to work in Australia for the term of appointment, residing in Australia

Required skills

• Excellent written and interpersonal skills
• Digital techniques and tools needed for effective online teaching
