Nurse Unit Manager – Home Care Services

About the role

The Home Care Nurse Unit Manager is a senior member of Benalla Health’s Clinical Services Leadership Team, responsible for leading the Home Nursing, Palliative Care, Hospital in the Home and Support at Home programs. This permanent full‑time role reports to the Operational Director of Community Health and works closely with senior directors to deliver high‑quality, community‑focused care.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and oversight for all home‑care services, ensuring alignment with organisational vision, mission and strategic goals.
• Develop, implement and continuously improve service models for home nursing, palliative care, Hospital in the Home and Support at Home.
• Manage program budgets, monitor financial sustainability and ensure services are delivered within allocated resources.
• Promote best‑practice clinical standards, health promotion initiatives and address social determinants of health.
• Foster consumer self‑determination and client‑centred outcomes across all programmes.
• Lead, mentor and develop multidisciplinary staff, encouraging professional growth and innovation.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with extensive experience in community and home‑based health services.
• Demonstrated leadership capability within a complex health‑care environment.
• Strong understanding of palliative care, hospital‑in‑the‑home models and health promotion principles.
• Proven ability to manage budgets and ensure service sustainability.
