Nurse Unit Manager – Day Surgery

About the role

The Royal Women’s Hospital is seeking a Nurse Unit Manager to lead its Day Surgery Unit. This full‑time, permanent role reports to the Director of Women’s Health and is responsible for strategic and operational leadership of a high‑volume peri‑operative service.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high‑performing multidisciplinary clinical team focused on exceptional patient care.
• Drive clinical governance, quality improvement and patient‑safety initiatives.
• Manage workforce planning, recruitment, performance development and staff engagement.
• Ensure effective utilisation of financial, human and physical resources.
• Lead service improvement, innovation and change initiatives aligned with organisational priorities.
• Build strong relationships across medical, nursing, allied health and executive teams.
• Contribute to strategic planning and future development of peri‑operative services.

Required profile

• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
• Significant peri‑operative or day‑surgery nursing experience.
• Proven leadership and people‑management capability.
• Ability to navigate complex clinical environments and drive change.
