Nurse Practitioner - Cardiology

About the role

The Cardiology Nurse Practitioner (NP) is an advanced practice role delivering expert, autonomous clinical care to patients with cardiovascular conditions. It works across inpatient and outpatient settings, with leadership in clinical decision-making, education and research alongside the multidisciplinary cardiology team. The position is permanent and part time (32 hours per week).

Key responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose and manage patients with cardiac conditions, focusing on heart failure, arrhythmia and cardiovascular risk disease.
• Review cardiology inpatients as part of the heart failure service, helping manage complex patients and coordinate care during hospitalisation and discharge planning.
• Deliver Nurse Practitioner-led clinics in Specialist Clinics and the Heart Centre.
• Act as a role model, sharing expert nursing knowledge with the multidisciplinary team and taking responsibility for advanced clinical decision-making within the NP scope.

Required profile

• Masters of Nurse Practitioner completed.
• Registered Nurse with endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
• Demonstrated advanced clinical experience in cardiology.
• Current national criminal history check, or willingness to obtain one.
• Willingness to meet mandatory immunisations and the Victorian government COVID-19 vaccination direction.
