Nephrology Registered Nurse (Grade 2) - Haemodialysis

About the role

Fresenius Medical Care is recruiting a Grade 2 Registered Nurse (Year 7) for its haemodialysis unit in Malvern, Victoria. The nurse applies advanced nephrology nursing skills to plan, deliver and evaluate patient care, acts as the primary coordinator of care for a group of dialysis patients and takes part in quality improvement and clinic management.

Key responsibilities

• Design, plan and evaluate patient care in the haemodialysis setting while protecting patient rights through adherence to Privacy Principles.
• Coordinate care for a group of dialysis patients and collaborate with other health care providers on individualised care plans.
• Provide education and support to patients and their carers, and guide Level 1 registered nurses, enrolled nurses and PSA's as part of a nursing team.
• Perform staff education and assessment, act as a preceptor and role model, and support visitors in the clinic.
• Maintain accurate patient information in medical records, including the Therapy Data Management System (TDMS), and follow confidentiality and privacy policy.
• Take part in quality improvement, risk management, infection control, occupational health and safety, and clinical research projects, and report incidents, hazards and opportunities for improvement.
• Support clinic management and business development, such as quality improvement coordination, staff education programs and policy reviews, and deputise in a higher-level position when requested.
• Liaise with nephrologists and the allied health team.

Required profile

• Registered general nurse with AHPRA and a current practising certificate.
• At least three years of current relevant nursing experience.
• Holding or working towards an approved nephrology nursing qualification.
• Minimum 60 rostered hours per fortnight.
