Naval Consultant

About the role

The Naval Consultant will join Lloyd’s Register Advisory to deliver high‑quality naval advisory services across Australasia. You will support naval‑focused projects, provide technical expertise, and help promote LR’s naval advisory capabilities to defence, government and industry clients.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver naval advisory projects within agreed budgets, timelines and contractual requirements.
• Present deliverables to internal and external clients and propose alternative solutions when appropriate.
• Support client management and maintain strong relationships between clients and LR.
• Identify new naval advisory opportunities and build enduring relationships with defence, government and industry stakeholders.
• Collaborate with maritime sales and service delivery teams to market LR’s advisory capabilities.
• Perform assessments, provide specialist advice, and ensure compliance with accreditation schemes, legislation and industry standards.
• Provide technical guidance to colleagues and facilitate knowledge transfer.
• Contribute to continuous improvement based on client feedback and business needs.

Required profile

• A degree or equivalent qualification in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a closely related discipline.
• Solid understanding of the naval sector, its operational environment and regulatory framework.
• Professional experience in naval engineering projects.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• High professional integrity, analytical rigor and personal initiative.
• Existing Australian Department of Defence security clearance.
