National Head of Distance Education

About the role

Christian Education Ministries (CEM) is a Christian education organisation with 16 schools across 5 states, five of which run a Distance Education (DE) programme serving more than 3,000 students. It is seeking a suitably qualified candidate for a new National Head of DE position, based on site in the Education Services department, to support DE teams and programmes across the country. The role starts in January 2027.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership in DE according to the CEM Vision and the CEM Way, and meet regularly with DE Leadership Teams to build their capacity to lead and manage.
• Lead initiatives to grow DE schools in their state and national context, and identify and build new markets and sub-markets.
• Improve retention of existing DE customers.
• Ensure DE customers receive the highest quality of service that CEM aspires to.
• Work closely with DE Leadership Teams and, where relevant, School Principals, as part of the CEM Education Services Team.
• Carry out other projects as determined, identified or directed by the Assistant CEO.

Required profile

• A committed Christian faith and active involvement in the church, with strong alignment to the CEM Vision, mission and values.
• Tertiary qualifications in education, with postgraduate qualifications in leadership or education highly regarded.
• Current or recent teacher registration in an Australian state or territory.
• Significant leadership experience in a school or education environment, and experience in distance education, online learning or flexible learning environments highly regarded.
• Ability to lead growth, innovation and continuous improvement, and to analyse data and identify trends.
• Willingness and capacity to travel regularly to CEM schools across Australia.
• Current Working with Children Check or ability to obtain the relevant clearances.
