Motor Vehicle Parts and Accessories Fitter

About the role

A full-time Motor Vehicle Parts and Accessories Fitter position is available in Cairns, Queensland. The fitter inspects, fits, repairs and replaces tyres, batteries and other vehicle parts and accessories, while providing professional customer service and keeping the workshop clean and safe.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect tyres for damage, uneven wear and punctures, and repair or replace them; remove and replace tyres and tubes using pneumatic equipment
• Repair punctures in tube and tubeless tyres according to manufacturer specifications
• Balance wheels and tyre assemblies using static and electronic balancing equipment
• Fit replacement batteries and accessories such as sunroofs, stereo systems and alarms
• Replace damaged windscreens and windows, preparing frames and sealing the glass
• Repair exhaust and muffler mountings and install replacement mufflers, extractors and exhaust pipes
• Remove, clean and repair radiators and cooling system components
• Check completed repairs and installations, and explain findings and recommend parts and repair options
• Maintain accurate job records and keep tools, equipment and work areas clean and safe

Required profile

• Relevant AQF Certificate II or above, or two years of relevant experience if no qualification
• At least 12 months of relevant experience (or two years if unqualified)
• Practical aptitude, attention to detail and good problem-solving and time-management skills
• Ability to work safely, independently or in a team, and willingness to learn
