Mining Systems Technician (MEM)

About the role

Rio Tinto is seeking a Mining Systems Technician to join the MEM Asset Health team. The role focuses on servicing, fault‑finding and maintaining mobile fleet communication devices used across Pilbara mining operations.

Key responsibilities

• Adhere to all Rio Tinto standards, policies and procedures.
• Perform safe inspections, scheduled maintenance, operation and breakdown repairs of Pilbara Mining Systems assets.
• Identify potential asset defects and escalate issues appropriately.
• Use and troubleshoot mining system hardware and applications, including high‑precision GPS on dig units, blast‑hole drills and modular fleet management systems.
• Ensure maintenance quality to avoid re‑work.
• Raise notifications and complete time confirmations in SAP.
• Liaise with engineers as required.

Required profile

• Strong commitment to personal and team safety.
• Experience in automotive electrical (preferred).
• Knowledge of CAT and Sandvik fleet equipment.
• Cable‑technician experience is an advantage.
• Familiarity with Aquila, terrain networks, Minestar, Tyre Sense and Teli Remote systems.
• Understanding of IP data networks and CAN‑bus.
• Motivated problem‑solver with a focus on continuous improvement.
