Mining Research Analyst – Steel Making Coal

About the role

A Brisbane-based market research role focused on steel making coal, covering supply, cost, quality and pricing analysis. It suits a mining engineer or geologist with a good understanding of mining operations and an interest in business, analysis and research. The position can act as a stepping stone for someone with analytical experience in mine planning, feasibility studies and techno-commercial evaluation.

Key responsibilities

• Provide specialist research and analysis on global supply, cost, quality and pricing of steel making coal.
• Review production, quality and cost for a range of global mines.
• Develop views on short, medium and long term market fundamentals.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree, ideally in Mining Engineering or Geology or a related subject; further study in business, commerce or finance is favourable.
• Experience of site operations and analytical work such as mine planning, feasibility studies and techno-commercial evaluation.
• Interest in the business side of mining, including pricing, economics, evaluation and factors affecting production.

Required skills

• Strong experience using Excel or other software for data analysis and reporting.
