Middle Leader (Pastoral Care)

About the role

A permanent full-time position at St Joseph's Catholic High School in Albion Park, NSW, starting 28 January 2027. The successful applicant will teach in one of the subjects listed (PD/H/PE, Religious Education, TAS, CAPA or Science) and provide pastoral and learning support for a selected year group. The Middle Leader supports the principal in implementing the school's vision and mission, supports growth in faith and improvement in learning, and assists the school leadership team in the conduct and organisation of the school.

Key responsibilities

Required profile

• Appropriate qualifications for teaching, plus additional qualifications or experience in a relevant area.
• Level C accreditation under the Diocese of Wollongong policy, or a commitment to gain it within the first contractual period.
• NESA accreditation at Proficient Teacher level or above.
• Working with Children clearance completed before employment.
• Commitment to the mission of the Catholic school and to embedding its values in pastoral practice.

Required skills

• Understanding of contemporary approaches to student well-being and management.
• Ability to lead, mentor and work collaboratively with staff, and to support students with challenging behaviour.
• Ability to build a learning culture of high expectations with differentiated learning.
• Use of data to discern individual student needs and source appropriate support.
• Good interpersonal, oral and written communication, teamwork, and administrative and organisational skills.
