Mid-Level QA Engineer

About the role

Join the Griddle team at Compass Education to own end‑to‑end testing for a high‑stakes school timetabling platform. The role blends manual and automated testing with feature delivery, offering a pathway toward full‑stack development.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of manual testing in the test environment, approve tickets for engineers, and run final pre‑release regression sign‑offs.
• Write and maintain automated UI and API tests using tools such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium or Postman, and leverage AI tools for test design and data generation.
• Pick up feature and bug tickets across the stack, collaborate with engineers, and gradually expand into backend (Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, GraphQL) and frontend work.

Required profile

• 4+ years of manual testing experience with confidence using test management or automation tooling.
• Strong ownership, clear communication, and ability to run release testing cycles independently.
• Interest in transitioning to full‑stack engineering and comfortable being the final checkpoint before release.

Required skills

• Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, Postman (or similar testing tools).
• AI tools such as Cursor, Claude, ChatGPT for testing and development acceleration.
• Exposure to Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, GraphQL and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab CI).
