Mental Health Consultant

About the role

Gallagher Bassett is hiring a Mental Health Consultant for its Mental Health Team in Melbourne on a 12-month contract. You will work alongside the expert claims teams to influence the management of Mental Injury claims, coaching and mentoring on complex cases and guiding treating health practitioners and employers on best-practice recovery and return to work supports.

Key responsibilities

• Drive the Return to Work (RTW) strategy for mental injury claims
• Identify risks through mental injury trend analysis and plan continuous improvement
• Develop strategies and processes to close skill and knowledge gaps in Mental Injury Claims Management
• Hold virtual and face-to-face meetings with health practitioners, injured workers and employers to support safe, sustainable returns to work
• Oversee daily activities and administrative duties for mental injury claims using WorkSafe's systems
• Collaborate with Case Managers and RTW Specialists on complex cases and provide training and development support to clients
• Monitor compliance and quality across claims practices and multi-stakeholder engagement

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health Nursing, Counselling or another mental health-related discipline
• Proven track record in mental health management; clinical and rehabilitation experience is highly valued
• Desirable: experience in Occupational Rehabilitation, Workers' Compensation or Work, Health & Safety
• Ability to manage performance through qualitative and quantitative metrics
• Excellent communication and stakeholder influence skills
• Able to thrive in a supportive, collaborative team environment
