Medical Systems ICT Support Officer (APS5/APS6)

About the role

This position provides specialised ICT support for a range of medical devices and telemedicine platforms within a federal government health environment. The role is based onsite in Kingston, Tasmania and offers a three‑year fixed‑term contract.

Key responsibilities

• Update and maintain medical devices, connectivity, and associated software.
• Support telemedicine systems such as IntraHealth Profile, VisionFlex and TeleMedic, including setup, maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Provide break/fix support for clinicians' PCs, laptops and other end‑user devices.
• Maintain Polar Medicine Unit (PMU) desktop applications and manage SCCM package deployments.
• Administer medical virtual machines and server environments running Windows Server and Linux.
• Manage mobile device fleets (Apple iPhone, iPad) to ensure 24/7 telemedicine capability.
• Oversee medical laptop pools, imaging, deployment and user onboarding.
• Support ICT infrastructure in clinical areas, including equipment setup, maintenance and basic teleconference support.
• Handle patient profile data issues, duplicate records and ID merges.
• Assist with medical equipment setup for training, QA activities and operational deployments.
• Provide guidance and training to IT technicians on medical systems and equipment.

Required profile

• Experience designing, integrating and supporting medical health systems across geographically dispersed sites.
• Proven ability to implement secure messaging standards such as Mirth Connect, HL7, FHIR and DICOM.
• Experience conducting cyber‑security assessments and penetration testing of medical devices.
• Strong diagnostic skills for monitoring and restoring clinical health systems.
