Medical Receptionist – Primary Healthcare Clinic

About the role

Join the multidisciplinary team at Lavarack Health Centre in Townsville as a Medical Receptionist. You will provide essential clerical and administrative support to clinical staff, ensuring smooth day‑to‑day operations in a unique defence‑linked primary healthcare environment.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate electronic and hard‑copy health records in line with Defence policies and privacy standards.
• Coordinate patient appointments and liaise with internal and external health service providers.
• Prepare reports, update health and personnel management systems, and assist with audit activities.
• Handle routine office tasks such as filing, mail distribution, photocopying, ordering stationery and processing supply requests.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year of full‑time (or equivalent part‑time) experience in an administrative role, preferably in a medical setting.
• Completion of a medical terminology course from a Registered Training Organisation, or willingness to complete one.
• Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
