Mechanical Service Technician – Underground Mining

About the role

Komatsu is looking for an experienced Mechanical Service Technician to provide dedicated aftermarket support for underground mining equipment at the Ensham Mine in Parkhurst, Queensland. The role focuses on maintaining the reliability and performance of Joy underground mining assets, contributing directly to production efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Champion safe work practices and ensure compliance with all site regulations.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting and fault diagnosis on Joy underground mining equipment, including continuous miners, shuttle cars, feeder breakers and conveyors.
• Analyse equipment failures, recommend corrective actions and support continuous‑improvement projects.
• Collaborate with customer maintenance and operations teams to optimise equipment performance.
• Provide technical mentoring and knowledge sharing across site personnel.

Required profile

• Mechanical Trade Qualification with current Mechanical Trade Certificate.
• Minimum five years’ experience in underground mining operations or equipment rebuild/repair facilities.
• Current S11 Generic Induction and Coal Board Medical clearance.
• Valid driver’s licence.

Required skills

• Mechanical troubleshooting of heavy underground mining equipment.
• Hydraulic system diagnosis and repair.
• Strong knowledge of Joy product range (continuous miners, shuttle cars, feeder breakers, conveyors).
• Post‑trade hydraulics qualifications.
