Mechanical Reliability Engineer (Manufacturing)

About the role

Our client, a leading Australian manufacturer in the Illawarra, is seeking a Mechanical Reliability Engineer to improve plant performance, asset reliability and operational efficiency. Reporting to the Asset Manager, you will collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to drive reliability initiatives and support CAPEX projects.

Key responsibilities

• Drive improvements in plant reliability, availability and performance.
• Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and fault‑finding investigations.
• Develop and optimise preventative and predictive maintenance strategies.
• Support shutdown planning, major maintenance activities and commissioning.
• Analyse equipment performance and identify cost‑saving opportunities.
• Lead and support reliability, safety and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Assist with CAPEX projects from concept through to completion.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree qualified Mechanical Engineer.
• Experience in manufacturing, heavy industry, mining, steel, cement, processing or similar environments.
• Exposure to reliability engineering, maintenance engineering or asset management.
• Experience with CMMS systems such as SAP or Maximo.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and stakeholder management skills.
• Current Australian residency with unrestricted work rights.
