Mechanical Product Design Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Product Design Engineer who enjoys solving real engineering problems, collaborating closely with manufacturing teams, and taking ownership of projects. The role is ideal for someone with around three years of experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment who wants greater autonomy and technical depth.

Key responsibilities

• Design mechanical systems and products using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.
• Create 3D models, fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, and P&IDs.
• Support prototype builds, testing, and design improvements.
• Work closely with Manufacturing, QA, and Product teams throughout development.
• Contribute to long‑term product development projects with technical complexity.
• Take ownership of engineering challenges and drive projects forward.

Required profile

• Approximately 3+ years in a mechanical design role within manufacturing.
• Experience applying Design for Manufacture (DFM) principles to complex processes.
• Proven ability to design products that are physically built and assembled.
• Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent.
• Australian permanent residency or citizenship (helpful but not essential).

Required skills

• Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks for mechanical design and 3D modelling.
• Experience with AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of P&ID creation.
• Understanding of Design for Manufacture concepts.
• Exposure to HVAC, refrigeration, or thermal systems.
• FEA and CFD experience.
• Familiarity with pressure vessel and heat exchanger design.
