Mechanical Fitter – Water and Wastewater Maintenance

About the role

Confluence Water, a joint venture of Ventia, Downer and Jacobs, is recruiting three permanent, full-time Mechanical Fitters for its Confluence Maintenance team. You will deliver planned and reactive maintenance on water and wastewater assets across Sydney Water's Network Sites and Wastewater Treatment facilities in the Northern Region, including Palm Beach, Hornsby, Warriewood, Manly, Rouse Hill, Castle Hill and Riverstone. Hours are Monday to Friday, 6:30am to 3:00pm, with an on-call roster of one week every 6 to 8 weeks.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain, repair and service a wide range of water and wastewater assets such as pumping stations, treatment plants, chemical dosing systems, generators, pumps, valves and associated mechanical equipment.
• Perform planned preventative maintenance, respond to breakdowns, diagnose faults, complete repairs, inspect, install equipment and test to keep assets operating reliably.
• Maintain compliance with safety, environmental and operational standards.

Required profile

• Mechanical trade qualification, or an engineering qualification; experience in the water and wastewater industry is highly regarded.
• Current and valid Class C driver's licence.
• Hands-on experience in pump and valve maintenance, with strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to do physically demanding field work in varied environments, and to manage competing priorities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to build stakeholder relationships and work in small trade teams.
• Desirable: dogging competencies and a truck licence, or willingness to obtain them.
