Mechanical Fitter – Reopening Plant

About the role

Pindan Beef Co is reopening its beef processing facility near Derby in Western Australia's Kimberley region, and is building its maintenance team from scratch. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Mechanical Fitter keeps the plant's mechanical equipment and infrastructure running safely in a regulated food processing environment, helping set up maintenance practices from the start.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out preventative and breakdown maintenance on mechanical plant, including steam, water, compressed air and waste systems
• Fault find and repair processing machinery and site infrastructure
• Maintain pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, bearings, valves, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• Install and commission plant and equipment, and take part in shutdowns and major overhauls
• Perform fabrication, welding and fitting as required
• Apply isolation, LOTO and permit systems, and contribute to risk assessments and safety meetings
• Work to food safety and hygiene standards and support audits
• Record maintenance activity accurately, identify reliability improvements and carry out root cause analysis

Required profile

• Trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter
• Industrial maintenance experience
• Full Australian working rights; visa sponsorship is not available
• Highly regarded: meat processing or FMCG manufacturing experience, experience in a regulated environment
• Safety-focused, reliable, calm under pressure, with strong mechanical aptitude and a team-first attitude

Required skills

• Hydraulics and pneumatics experience
• Strong fault finding and problem solving skills
• Highly regarded: welding and fabrication skills, CMMS experience
