Mechanical Fitter

About the role

A metal fabrication and manufacturing specialist with almost 50 years in the industry is hiring a Mechanical Fitter in Bassendean. The fitter performs mechanical maintenance, repair and installation of plant and equipment so that site or workshop facilities run safely, efficiently and reliably. The client supplies total component solutions, from custom parts to welded structures up to 10 tonnes, for industrial, mining, oil & gas, commercial and residential building sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Perform planned and unplanned maintenance on mechanical plant and equipment
• Diagnose faults and carry out repairs to minimise downtime
• Dismantle, overhaul and reassemble components such as pumps, gearboxes and conveyors
• Complete maintenance records and work orders according to site procedures
• Work in line with WHS policies, procedures and safety standards
• Interpret technical manuals, drawings and engineering documentation

Required profile

• 5-10 years of experience as a Mechanical Fitter in mining, oil & gas or manufacturing
• Certificate III in Engineering, a Mechanical Trade or equivalent qualification
• Current driver's licence, white card and relevant tickets such as rigging, dogging or forklift
• Strong attention to detail, safety-conscious mindset and full compliance with WHS
• Problem-solving and communication skills, able to work independently and in a team
