Mechanical Fitter – Industrial Laundry Machinery

About the role

A busy commercial laundry facility in Yatala, Queensland is looking for a Mechanical Fitter to service and maintain industrial laundry machinery and associated production equipment. You will carry out preventative maintenance, respond to breakdowns and complete mechanical repairs so that machinery runs safely and efficiently with minimal production downtime.

Key responsibilities

• Service and maintain industrial washing machines, dryers and associated laundry equipment
• Perform preventative and breakdown maintenance
• Strip, inspect, repair and rebuild mechanical components
• Diagnose faults and troubleshoot automated production equipment
• Maintain pumps, motors, gearboxes, bearings and conveyors
• Work with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• Complete routine servicing, lubrication and equipment inspections
• Assist with basic welding and fabrication when required
• Follow safe-isolation and Lock Out/Tag Out procedures and site safety requirements

Required profile

• Recognised Mechanical Fitter trade qualification
• Previous mechanical fitting and industrial maintenance experience; experience with industrial or commercial laundry machinery and automated production-line equipment highly regarded
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and technical manuals
• Basic welding and fabrication skills advantageous
• Forklift licence or experience highly regarded
• Full Australian working rights
• Willingness to work overtime and Saturdays when required

Required skills

• Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills
• Experience with pumps, motors, gearboxes, bearings and conveyors
• Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team

What we offer

• $65 per hour plus overtime and superannuation
• Morning (approx. 6:00/7:00 am to 2:00 pm) and afternoon (2:00 pm to 10:00 pm) shifts
• Daily overtime may be available; Saturday work may be required
