Mechanical Engineer – Structures

About the role

Space Machines Company is seeking a Mechanical Engineer – Structures to join its fast‑moving startup team. You will play a central role in designing, building, and testing spacecraft capable of Rendezvous and Proximity Operations (RPO). The position focuses on structural components, generative design, and close collaboration with optical payload partners.

Key responsibilities

• Design and analyse structural components at unit and system levels for RPO‑capable spacecraft.
• Lead generative design projects to optimise mass, stiffness, and manufacturability.
• Interface with other spacecraft subsystems and external payload partners, especially for optical payload integration.
• Support assembly, integration, and testing (AIT) activities to ensure production‑ready vehicles.
• Contribute to the iterative design‑build‑test‑refine cycle that drives rapid development.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with structural analysis and design for space or high‑performance applications.
• Ability to work in a lean, fast‑paced startup environment.
• Strong communication skills for cross‑disciplinary collaboration.
