Mechanical Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Alice Springs, NT. The role focuses on the safe and effective operation, maintenance, and management of facility assets, infrastructure, and systems while offering a relaxed, community‑focused lifestyle and strong work‑life balance.

Key responsibilities

• Perform technical studies, analyses, investigations and consultations.
• Identify, define and develop detailed requirements for facility infrastructure, equipment and system modification, replacement, upgrade and recapitalisation.
• Design and develop solutions for technical problems across the mechanical engineering discipline.
• Review and advise on proposed changes from concept through detailed IFC designs.
• Conduct engineering calculations to support infrastructure operation and design.
• Provide recommendations on reliability, operation, maintenance, life‑cycle management and costing.
• Develop ROM costing estimates for modifications and upgrades.
• Evaluate systems and processes for optimisation and improvement.
• Ensure health and safety practices and compliance on site.
• Perform any other reasonable duties as requested.

Required profile

• Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Active TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance or Australian citizenship able to obtain the required security clearance.
• Minimum one year experience with building management and control systems, facilities operation and maintenance.
• Familiarity with HVAC, hydronic and data‑centre cooling systems.
• Driver’s licence.
• Desirable: postgraduate qualifications, PE/CPEng certification and project‑management experience.
