Mechanical Engineer – Industrial & Energy (Perth)

About the role
Veolia is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join its Industrial & Energy team in the Perth Metro Area. The role provides local engineering support focused on mechanical solutions for industrial services, helping deliver innovative water, waste, energy and industrial projects.
Key responsibilities
- Develop innovative design concepts for equipment, tooling and methods to solve operational challenges.
- Produce and interpret technical drawings, design documentation and equipment datasheets.
- Prepare scopes of work, specifications and respond to vendor technical queries.
- Interpret Australian and international standards and regulatory requirements.
- Perform engineering calculations such as stress analysis, reliability analysis, pumping system curves and hydraulic calculations.
- Manage contractor packages from award to delivery in line with Veolia procedures.
- Participate in HAZID and HAZOP activities and provide ad‑hoc technical assistance to site operations.
- Evaluate design options, create business cases and adhere to staged engineering lifecycle processes.
- Produce documentation for risk assessments, installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance.
- Maintain relationships with site personnel, industrial clients, engineering teams and WA leadership while ensuring compliance with health, safety and environmental policies.
Required profile
- Proven experience in mechanical engineering within industrial, mining, oil & gas or heavy‑industry environments.
- Ability to develop design concepts, produce detailed drawings and interpret technical standards.
- Strong analytical skills for stress, reliability and hydraulic calculations.
- Experience managing contractor packages and adhering to change‑management processes.
- Familiarity with HAZID/HAZOP risk‑assessment methodologies.
- Effective communication and relationship‑building skills across multidisciplinary teams.
