Mechanical Engineer – Defence Vessel Support

About the role

Raytheon Australia is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the Minor Vessel Capability programme for the Australian Defence Force. The role is based in Darwin and will work within the recurring services team to deliver engineering changes and sustainment for a fleet of Minor Vessels operating across WA, NT and QLD.

Key responsibilities

• Design, analyse, implement and test mechanical components, modules and subsystems for the Minor Vessel fleet.
• Provide technical assistance to integration teams to resolve mechanical trouble reports.
• Review contractual and engineering documentation, including calculations, CAD drawings and hazard logs.
• Identify and escalate project and product risks in line with defined processes.
• Contribute to the lifecycle support of mechanical hardware, from transition into service through to end‑of‑life.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering.
• Minimum five years of relevant mechanical engineering experience.
• Progress towards Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status and eligibility for RPEQ registration.
• Experience with systems engineering practices such as requirements development, design integration and verification.
