About the role
Quick Release (QR_) is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its Brisbane team and support the design, manufacture, integration, and sustainment of defence vehicles and related systems. You will work within client teams, applying high‑level mechanical engineering expertise to solve complex, high‑impact challenges.
Key responsibilities
- Develop mechanical engineering solutions for defence vehicle projects, from concept through delivery.
- Conduct technical investigations, root‑cause analysis and propose corrective actions.
- Produce and review engineering designs, drawings, specifications, calculations and technical documentation in line with company and defence standards.
- Support engineering change management, configuration control and technical data management throughout the product lifecycle.
- Plan, coordinate and manage assigned projects, including schedule creation, stakeholder engagement and progress reporting.
- Participate in design coordination meetings, design reviews, risk assessments, FMEA and technical peer reviews.
- Liaise with internal and external clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
- Provide engineering support to manufacturing, assembly, supplier qualification and field sustainment activities.
- Ensure compliance with State WHSE Acts, health‑safety and environmental regulations.
Required profile
- Senior‑level mechanical engineering experience, preferably in defence or related high‑technology sectors.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex engineering projects and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong analytical skills for investigations, root‑cause analysis and risk assessment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication for technical reporting and client liaison.
- Commitment to health‑safety, environmental stewardship and continuous learning.
