Mechanical Design Engineer (RPEQ) – Gold Coast

About the role

This position is for a newly‑registered RPEQ Mechanical Engineer to join a respected Australian bulk‑materials handling company on the Gold Coast. You will work across design, product improvement and project delivery, seeing your concepts evolve into fabricated equipment used in mining, mineral processing, sugar, ports, quarrying and manufacturing.

Key responsibilities

• Design mechanical components and systems for bulk‑materials handling equipment using 3D modelling and detailed 2D drafting.
• Prepare fabrication drawings, engineering documentation and apply calculations, first‑principles and relevant standards.
• Provide technical input to internal projects and product development, and resolve design/manufacturing challenges with the fabrication team.
• Support continuous improvement of existing products and processes, taking increasing ownership as experience grows.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering and current RPEQ registration (preferably recent).
• Practical mechanical design experience, especially with heavy fabrication or manufactured equipment.
• Interest in bulk‑materials handling, conveyors, mining or heavy industry.
• Full Australian working rights and relevant local experience.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor for 3D modelling and 2D drafting.
• Strong engineering fundamentals and ability to justify design decisions.
