About the role
Anduril Industries is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support the development of its Extra Large Autonomous Undersea Vehicles (XL‑AUV) in Sydney. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to create, test, and deliver advanced mechanical systems for defence‑focused unmanned platforms.
Key responsibilities
- Develop detailed mechanical designs, prototypes and complex structures for XL‑AUVs, ensuring compliance with maritime standards.
- Perform simulation and analysis, including modal and spectral response, and conduct design validation testing of parts and subsystems.
- Support manufacturing, testing, deployment and lifecycle maintenance, travelling up to 20% of the time to co‑locate with end‑users or vendors.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace, Naval Architecture or related field.
- Professional experience as a Mechanical Engineer with a holistic view of design, implementation, operation and sustainment.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Security Clearance.
Required skills
- Proficiency with NX, FEMAP and Teamcenter (or equivalent CAD/FEA/PLM tools).
- Experience creating FEM models for stress, strain and modal analysis.
- Hands‑on knowledge of welding, machining, sheet‑metal fabrication, injection molding, composites and additive manufacturing.
