Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join the CATCH4 program in Neerabup, WA on a fixed‑term contract through September 2027. The role will deliver end‑to‑end mechanical design, from concept to fabrication‑ready documentation, supporting the pilot plant operation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop 3‑D parametric models and 2‑D fabrication drawings for catalytic pilot unit components, structural supports, enclosures, ducting, pipework and process equipment interfaces.
• Produce general arrangement, assembly, part drawings and bills of materials in accordance with Australian and international standards.
• Maintain drawing registers, revision control and documentation protocols.
• Perform basic engineering calculations to validate designs and support approvals.
• Prepare and issue RFQ packages, including specifications, drawings and material call‑outs, to fabricators and equipment suppliers.
• Review supplier and fabricator shop drawings and provide technical feedback.
• Coordinate with internal technical leads, external OEM partners, fabricators and site personnel to ensure design intent is correctly translated into built hardware.
• Support the operation and commissioning of the pilot plant.

Required profile

• Qualified mechanical engineer or equivalent experience in mechanical design.
• Proven experience creating detailed 3‑D models and 2‑D fabrication drawings for industrial equipment.
• Familiarity with Australian and international drawing standards and revision control processes.
• Ability to perform basic engineering calculations and interpret technical specifications.
• Experience preparing RFQ documentation and reviewing supplier/shop drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
