Design Engineer (Manufacturing & Rotating Machinery)

About the role

Plan, coordinate and manage professional engineering work for Howden products, including fans, blowers and screw‑compressor packages, ensuring projects are delivered on budget, on time and to the required engineering standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design activities for specific projects and produce 3D models, coordinating with drafting to create manufacturing drawings.
• Monitor quality, timeliness and cost of design delivery, managing resource allocation for maximum efficiency.
• Administer contracts for external design resources and manage interfaces between clients, consultants, suppliers and project staff.
• Assess design changes for technical, budget and schedule impact, and certify work against relevant codes and standards.
• Provide technical support for tendering, construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance, and mentor less‑experienced engineering staff.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years experience as a Design Engineer in a manufacturing environment.
• Engineering degree (Master of Engineering preferred).
• Strong communication, problem‑solving and organisational skills.
• Ability to think creatively and work both independently and as part of a team.

Required skills

• Finite element analysis and results interpretation.
• Excel coding (preferred).
• Proficiency with Autodesk software: AutoCAD, Inventor and Vault.
• 2D CAD and 3D modelling expertise.
• Experience in rotating‑machinery engineering design.
• Microsoft Office applications.
