Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

Brooks Automation is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its Laboratory Automation Solutions team. You will help create innovative machinery that supports semiconductor and life‑science laboratories worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Lead concept, detailed design and development of high‑quality mechanical solutions using PTC Creo.
• Produce 2D manufacturing drawings, build prototypes, conduct testing and validation, and transfer designs to production.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, customers and suppliers to drive new product development and support existing products.
• Create and maintain technical documentation for design, manufacturing and compliance.
• Provide hands‑on support to manufacturing and assembly, resolving design‑related issues.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in mechanical design and product development.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced, innovative environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with PTC Creo (CAD modeling).
• Creation of 2D manufacturing drawings.
• Prototype building and mechanical testing.
• Technical documentation preparation.
