Mechanical Design Engineer (Adelaide)

About the role

Our client, a specialist manufacturer of bespoke metal equipment, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Adelaide team on a permanent basis. The role offers the opportunity to lead product development from concept through to production, working closely with cross‑functional teams in a dynamic, small‑scale environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop 3D CAD models and detailed technical drawings for new equipment.
• Manage the full product lifecycle, from initial concept to final manufacturing.
• Collaborate with design, manufacturing and procurement departments to ensure seamless project delivery.
• Liaise with external manufacturers and oversee final assembly processes.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation, BOMs and update the MRP system.
• Perform hand calculations, verification, validation, FEA, testing and prototyping as required.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years of experience in mechanical design engineering.
• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven ability to deliver projects on time and within budget.
• Strong theoretical knowledge of engineering principles and tolerance management.
• Effective teamwork and independent working skills.
