Material and Operations Specialist

About the role

We are looking for a Material and Operations Specialist to join Wabtec Global Freight Services in Perth’s CBD. The role supports the Senior Operations Specialist in managing vendor relationships, material flow and remanufacturing processes to ensure timely delivery of rotables and efficient use of resources.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Senior Operations Specialist with vendor engagement, ensuring delivery dates align with the 18‑week customer forecast and zero‑based budget.
• Monitor vendor turnaround times, identify improvement opportunities and drive actions to maintain remanufacture efficiency.
• Lead Work‑in‑Progress meetings, prepare information in advance and follow through to closure.
• Participate in annual audits to verify vendor compliance with OEM standards.
• Manage the flow of used parts (“cores”) to minimise turnaround and waste.
• Oversee ERP‑generated reports related to remanufacturing equipment and update status regularly.
• Prioritise vendor schedules based on changes in customer operations and assembly rebuild needs.
• Coordinate internal delivery quality using the company EHS platform and promote continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with Service Leaders, Customer Service and Planners to integrate OneWabtec remanufacturing systems.
• Support annual stock‑take, material planning and KPI reporting for remanufacture performance.

Required profile

• Proven experience with ERP systems, preferably Oracle.
• Background in heavy‑equipment remanufacturing or sourcing.
• Strong organisational and time‑management abilities.
• Flexibility to work site hours with variable start and finish times.
• Experience working in remote locations is desirable.
