Manager - Aluminium & Alumina Center of Excellence

About the role

Bechtel is seeking a Manager for its Aluminium & Alumina Center of Excellence in Brisbane. The role leads a multidisciplinary engineering team delivering complex mining and metals projects, ensuring technical solutions meet client requirements while staying within scope and budget.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate engineering activities for multiple small‑scale and large‑scale projects within the Aluminium and Alumina portfolio.
• Interpret project requirements, organise technical work, and execute engineering deliverables.
• Participate in early project planning and proposal reviews, providing technical guidance and assessing feasibility.
• Own the engineering portion of capital estimates, including quantity take‑offs and budgeting.
• Monitor and review changes in scope, material quantities, schedule or budget, and recommend corrective actions.
• Collaborate with functional and project leadership to align engineering outputs with overall project goals.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading engineering teams on mining or metals projects.
• Strong understanding of project planning, proposal development, and capital estimating.
• Ability to manage complex technical assignments and deliver results on schedule.
• Excellent communication skills to interact with internal and external stakeholders.
