Management Accountant (Mining)

About the role

The Mining Operations team at Bluestone is seeking a highly motivated Management Accountant to provide financial insight and support strategic objectives. Based in our Burnie office, you will work closely with the Finance Superintendent and various operational departments.

Key responsibilities

• Advise management on business improvement opportunities and cost‑saving measures.
• Maintain accurate management accounts through continuous liaison with departments.
• Perform unit cost analysis, manage variances to budget, and initiate corrective investigations.
• Design reporting tools that present cost, physicals, and budget/forecast variations to stakeholders.
• Prepare monthly capital reports, including variance analysis and percentage completion.
• Evaluate tenders and make recommendations.
• Develop ad‑hoc business cases as required.

Required profile

• Significant experience in management accounting or a similar finance role.
• Relevant qualifications (e.g., CPA, CA, or equivalent).
• Familiarity with mining‑specific ERP systems is an advantage.
• Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, and cost allocation within the mining industry.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for internal and external stakeholder engagement.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel for data analysis and reporting.
• Experience with mining enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
