Major Shutdowns Coordinator

About the role

FMS Group is looking for an experienced Major Shutdowns Coordinator to lead planning and execution of large‑scale shutdowns across multiple Bowen Basin mining sites. You will work on a 4/4/4 roster, ensuring all activities are carried out safely, on time and within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed shutdown plans, schedules, resource allocations and execution strategies.
• Coordinate supervisors, tradespeople, contractors and support teams across draglines, shovels and fixed‑plant assets.
• Monitor progress, identify risks and implement corrective actions to minimise delays.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, productivity and operational efficiency.
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with client, site and company requirements.

Required profile

• Trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting, Diesel Fitting, Engineering or related discipline.
• Current S123 and G2 competencies.
• Extensive coal‑mining experience in the Bowen Basin.
• Proven experience coordinating major shutdowns and leading multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience with dragline, shovel, CHPP and fixed‑plant maintenance shutdowns.
• Understanding of shutdown budgeting, project controls and risk management.
• Current Coal Board Medical, Standard 11 certification and a valid driver’s licence.
