Maintenance Fitter

About the role

BlueScope’s Lysaght plant in Novar Gardens is seeking a hands‑on Maintenance Fitter to join a close‑knit team supporting a busy manufacturing operation. The role involves preventative maintenance, breakdown response, equipment upgrades and capital project work across a variety of production equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Interact with maintenance management systems and record completed work.
• Assess job risks, prepare JSEAs and obtain permits.
• Isolate equipment and carry out corrective maintenance.
• Inspect equipment, identify faults and complete repairs.
• Respond to machinery breakdowns and troubleshoot issues.
• Contribute to shutdown planning and maintenance activities.
• Support machinery upgrades, equipment improvements and capital projects.
• Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and maintenance performance.

Required profile

• Trade‑qualified Mechanical Fitter or Fitter & Turner.
• Experience maintaining manufacturing, processing or production equipment.
• Strong mechanical fault‑finding and proactive problem‑solving.
• Understanding of safe work practices, permits and compliance requirements.
• Experience using maintenance management systems and basic computer applications.
• Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
• Commitment to personal and team safety.
