Maintenance Fitter

About the role

The Maintenance Fitter will join BlueScope’s Lysaght plant in Novar Gardens, South Australia, supporting the upkeep of steel manufacturing equipment. Working a day shift from 6:30 am to 2:30 pm, you will be the first point of contact for all maintenance activities, ensuring safety, reliability and high‑quality production.

Key responsibilities

• Log and manage work orders in the maintenance CMMS.
• Assess risks, isolate equipment and carry out corrective maintenance.
• Inspect machinery, diagnose faults and perform repairs or rebuilds.
• Respond promptly to breakdowns and coordinate urgent repairs.
• Plan and execute scheduled and unscheduled shutdowns.
• Identify and implement improvements to maintenance strategies.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a heavy‑industrial environment.
• Hands‑on background in repairing and maintaining manufacturing equipment.
• Ability to work safely and communicate effectively with team members.
• Willingness to take ownership of tasks and contribute to continuous improvement.

Required skills

• Lathe operation.
• Milling machine operation.
• Machine rebuild and improvement work.
• Use of maintenance management systems (CMMS) and basic computer skills.
