Maintenance and Operations Technician

About the role

Raytheon Australia is seeking a Maintenance and Operations Technician based in Toowoomba, Queensland. The role combines operating mission systems with maintaining and troubleshooting them, in a hands-on environment supporting a nationally significant Defence capability. It involves planned and corrective maintenance, fault diagnosis, equipment testing and operational support, with possible travel within Australia and internationally.

Key responsibilities

• Operate mission systems and associated support equipment according to approved procedures.
• Carry out planned and corrective maintenance so equipment stays available and serviceable.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair equipment faults.
• Support equipment testing, commissioning and operational activities.
• Assist with approved modifications and upgrades.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and technical documentation.
• Support configuration management and equipment sustainment.
• Contribute to a safe working environment and comply with safety requirements.
• Support field activities, exercises and operational tasks, and travel within Australia and internationally as required.

Required profile

• Suitably qualified tradesperson with a Mechanical or Electrical trade background.
• Cert III/IV qualification in a Mechanical or Electrical trade (essential).
• Experience maintaining, repairing and supporting equipment in field, workshop or operational environments (essential).
• Proven ability to carry out preventative, scheduled and breakdown maintenance safely and efficiently (essential).
• Eligible to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance (essential).
• HC licence (or ability to obtain it).
• Desirable: experience in Defence, heavy industry, mining, transport or similar technical maintenance; knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, control and power distribution systems; ability to read technical manuals, drawings and schematics; strong troubleshooting skills.
