Maintenance and Grounds Officer

About the role

The Maintenance and Grounds Officer will maintain and improve CEWA’s buildings, grounds, gardens and heritage facilities in Geraldton, ensuring they are safe, functional and well‑presented. The role works closely with the Property Manager, Regional Officer and other staff to support day‑to‑day property operations.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain recognised Geraldton heritage buildings, gardens and undertake general building and facilities maintenance, gardening, weeding, lawn mowing and oval turf management.
• Maintain all external grounds, ovals, bore systems and associated facilities including the CEWA Catholic Education Offices and St Patrick’s heritage complex.
• Assist the Geraldton CEWA Regional Officer and staff as required and ensure a safe environment in workshops, buildings and surrounding grounds.
• Conduct weekly checks of fleet vehicles in line with WHS management.

Required profile

• Practical, self‑motivated professional with experience in maintenance, groundskeeping or facilities management.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety and ability to perform physical and manual handling tasks safely.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with an organised, methodical approach.

Required skills

• General building maintenance, minor repairs and equipment maintenance.
• Gardening, turf management, reticulation and weed control.
• Safe use of tools, machinery and equipment in accordance with WHS requirements.
