M&A Tax Consultant or Senior Consultant, Melbourne

About the role

Alvarez & Marsal is expanding its M&A Tax team in Melbourne. The team advises a diverse global and local client base across industries on technical and practical tax advice throughout the M&A lifecycle, with direct access to senior leadership and minimal bureaucracy. As a Consultant or Senior Consultant, you will work on multiple projects of varying complexity, covering fund, entity and asset transactions.

Key responsibilities

• Manage tax structuring on M&A transactions, identifying and articulating tax outcomes on complex fund, entity and asset deals
• Carry out tax due diligence, analysing tax documents and computations to identify key risks
• Prepare and present tax technical advice on material items
• Analyse financial models, reviewing the tax aspects of valuation models and highlighting implications for deal negotiations
• Help implement transactions by reviewing the documentation required
• Engage with clients and management, taking part in calls and meetings while supporting day-to-day deal execution

Required profile

• Experience in M&A Tax or Corporate Tax within a Big 4 or mid-tier professional services organisation
• Demonstrated technical knowledge of Australian corporate income tax laws
• Clear written and verbal communication skills
• A collaborative, pragmatic and solutions-focused mindset, with a commercial mindset
