Longwall Superintendent

About the role

The Longwall Superintendent will lead the longwall function at Moranbah North Mine, ensuring safe, reliable and productive underground coal mining operations. This senior operational position coordinates people, equipment and priorities across production, maintenance and technical teams.

Key responsibilities

• Provide visible safety leadership across all longwall activities and ensure compliance with legislation and site standards.
• Lead production teams to achieve safety, production and operational objectives, coordinating daily and weekly priorities.
• Monitor longwall performance, respond to changing conditions, risks and constraints, and drive continuous improvement.
• Support longwall planning, panel readiness and safe production activities, and review equipment availability and shift reporting.
• Collaborate closely with the Underground Mine Manager, engineering, technical services and maintenance teams.

Required profile

• Extensive operational leadership experience in underground coal mining, particularly longwall production and second workings.
• Strong knowledge of Queensland coal mining legislation and underground safety systems.
• Demonstrated ability to lead large operational teams and manage operational risk, TARPs and changing mining conditions.
• Relevant underground coal mining qualifications, competencies and a current Australian driver’s licence.

Required skills

• First class miner or deputy ticket (highly regarded).
• Experience with risk assessments, TARPs and operational planning.
